7-Eleven Shoebox Art Piece Inspired By Teen’s Covid Outing: Art Show

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A schedule function — walking to a 7-Eleven shop with friends — took on large importance for a university student isolated from mates during the early period of the coronavirus pandemic.

“The prompt for the sculptures was a moveable memory environment — imagining about a memory they experienced and then they experienced a great deal of imaginative independence to how they would generate that setting to allude to or suggest what that experience was like,” Quimby instructed Patch Wednesday evening at the exhibition reception.

A special memory for 14-calendar year-old Haidyn Gordon is the initial time she walked to a 7-Eleven by herself with her pals after the pandemic limited gatherings. Gordon produced a 3D art piece of that exclusive time within a massive Demonia shoebox.

“It was just one of the only periods I observed my pals as a result of quarantine,” Gordon told Patch. “They all arrived around to my house, and we decided we wanted treats and we walked above to the 7-Eleven in close proximity to my household and that complete day caught with me, so I wished to do anything from that day, and I assumed making a 7-Eleven would be interesting.”

Gordon designed the 7-Eleven just off Fourth Road North in the vicinity of 62nd Avenue North. The piece reveals 7-Eleven’s exterior together with aspects of the parking and aspects of Fourth Street North and 62nd Avenue North with the crosswalk and electrical traces. The 3 figures employing the crosswalk represent Gordon and two of her close friends.
