Netflix Sets Date for New Marie Kondo Series

‘Sparking Joy’ will premiere in the summer and see the decluttering expert take on bigger tasks.

Netflix has some more tidying up to do.

The streamer has renewed a pair of home renovation series — Get Organized With The Home Edit and Dream Home Makeover — and set a summer date for a new series from decluttering expert Marie Kondo. The pickups follow those of Selling Sunset and Bling Empire a week ago as Netflix continues to reach across all facets of the unscripted business.

Sparking Joy With Marie Kondoordered to series a year ago on the heels of her first effort for Netflix, Tidying Up — will apply her KonMari method of reducing clutter not just to people’s homes, but also to businesses, relationships and communities. The show will also offer glimpses into Kondo’s home life and features members of her family.

Alfred Street Industries and KonMari Media Inc. produce the series. Rachelle Mendez (Queer Eye) is showrunner and executive produces with Jane Lipsitz, Dan Cutforth, Dan Volpe, Nan Strait and Grace Lee-Toumanidis for Alfred Street, and Kondo and Takumi Kawahara for KonMari Media.

Get Organized will return for a second season of following Home Edit founders Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin as they help people get their spaces (and lives) more in order. Season two will also feature several celebrities surprising friends and family members with makeovers.

Shearer and Teplin exec produce with Hello Sunshine’s Reese Witherspoon, Sara Rea and Sue Kinkead and Critical Content’s Tom Forman, Jenny Daly and Jon Beyer. Molly Sims and showrunner Omid Kahangi are also EPs.

Dream Home Makeover has been renewed for a third season. It centers on married couple Syd and Shea McGee as they run their home design business and raise their two daughters, with a third child on the way. Rich Bye executive produces with the McGees; the show comes from Goodbye Productions.
