HGTV kicks off every new year by giving away a new “Dream Home.” This year, one lucky winner won a 3,500-square-foot coastal escape in historic Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. But any true fan of the home improvement network knows there’s more than one sweepstakes in which you may be able to walk away with an incredible home.

Though the race to win the 2020 “Urban Oasis” doesn’t officially open until Oct. 5, HGTV has already dropped a sneak peek of the cozy New England maritime retreat it’s giving away. Located in the coastal city of Portland, the Maine home features a dark-gray board-and-batten exterior with a truly inviting front porch. A bold coral front door opens into an entryway lined with coral and white striped wallpaper for a modern twist on nautical stripes. The color palette was inspired by the life vests lining the docks along the Atlantic Ocean.

A focal point of the home is the rustic kitchen, which features a wall of soft-green cabinets, sleek shelving, and an open floor plan, which truly maximizes the space.

“The HGTV Urban Oasis 2020 kitchen is a central gathering space that combines timeless, rustic charm with modern day amenities,” designer Brian Patrick Flynn writes on HGTV’s website. “Painted white wood panel walls bring a fresh farmhouse feel while smart appliances and fixtures add high tech function to calm and airy kitchen.”

Sliding glass doors open directly from the kitchen into an outdoor entertaining space. The backyard also features a fire pit and plenty of outdoor lighting, completing a design which emphasizes coastal living by maximizing indoor and outdoor space.

Located on the second floor, the bright main bedroom features a bold blue color scheme, ample windows, and skylights. In the bathroom, a sliding-glass door separates the double vanity from the wet room, which includes a clawfoot tub and shower.

“You close the whole thing off, and then that whole one space back there is for either purpose,” Brian Patrick Flynn said of his design.
